Sunshine
Sunshine is an internally created caring and inclusive provision for children with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) who require a more personalised learning environment. Every child is unique, and we work closely with families to ensure that support is tailored to individual strengths, interests and needs.
Our pupils learn, play and grow in a nurturing environment where relationships, communication, wellbeing and independence are at the heart of everything we do. Some children access Sunshine Class throughout the day, whilst others follow a hybrid approach, spending time in both Sunshine and their mainstream classroom.
Our long-term aim is to support every child to access mainstream learning as successfully and independently as possible by the end of Key Stage 1. Through carefully planned teaching, targeted interventions and personalised support, we help children develop the skills, confidence and resilience needed to thrive within the wider school environment.
As a valued part of the St Mary's family, children in Sunshine Class are encouraged to take part in all aspects of school life, including assemblies, performances, trips, celebrations and sporting events. We try hard to ensure that activities are adapted to meet individual needs, ensuring that every child can participate, achieve and experience a strong sense of belonging.
We are proud of our inclusive approach and of the progress our children make every day. Sunshine Class is a place where children are understood, celebrated and supported to shine.
